Two guests relaxing side by side on massage tables

What It Is

The same hour, shared

Two tables, two therapists, one room, the same start and the same finish. That is all a couples massage is, and it is enough. The "couples" is the format, not the relationship: husbands and wives book it, and so do friends on a girls' trip, mothers and daughters, sisters, and parents with a grown-up child.

Thai Touch sits across the bridge from Pensacola Beach, a quiet, local alternative to the hotel spa. Jennifer and her husband came to us for their anniversary. Ben and his wife come every year on vacation. Kirsti came with a friend and sent her daughters. All three booked the same room.

Two treatments, not one

Each of you chooses your own treatment from the menu, your own pressure and your own focus areas. One deep tissue and one Swedish is common. One Pre & Post Natal and one Thai Combination makes a fine babymoon. Each therapist talks to their own guest before starting, and add-ons are chosen per person. You share the room. You do not have to share the massage.

What it costs

There is no couples rate and no couples surcharge: you pay the menu price for each treatment. Two 60-minute Thai Combination, Swedish or Deep Tissue treatments come to $238; two 90-minute treatments to $338. Mix in an Express at $65 or a Lymphatic Drainage from $89 and the total follows the menu. Gratuity goes to each therapist and is always at your discretion.

What to Expect

Your session, start to finish

Decide the length together before you book, so you finish together.

  1. Arrive together

About ten minutes early, for two short health forms. Tell us the occasion if there is one; it is nice to know.

  2. Two conversations

Each therapist talks with their own guest: pressure, focus areas, injuries, pregnancy. Different answers are expected.

  3. Settle in

The therapists step out while you undress to your comfort, together or in turns, and settle under your drapes on tables set side by side.

  4. The treatment

Both sessions start together and finish together. Talk quietly, say nothing, or fall asleep; all three happen. Hold hands at the start or the end; in between, your therapists need the room.

  5. Afterwards

Dress, have some water or tea, and step out into the evening a little slower than you arrived.

60 minutes each

$238 for two

A first time or a weekday reset: two full-body sessions at a comfortable pace.

Recommended

90 minutes each

$338 for two

The proper treat: unhurried, with time on the places each of you needs. The length most couples choose.

120 minutes each

$476 for two

For the big occasion. The slowest afternoon on our menu.

Why Guests Book It

An hour with nothing to organise

Couples massage is a format, not a therapy, so we keep the claims modest.

  • Time away from everythingNo phones, no logistics, no one needing anything from either of you for an hour.
  • Each of you gets what you needDifferent pressure, different focus, different treatment if you like.
  • A new shared experienceEspecially on a trip, when the days blur into beach and dinner.
  • The simplest giftAnniversaries, birthdays, Mother's Day, homecomings, and no-occasion Tuesdays.

What the research says, and what it doesn't

What research does and does not say about massage for two:

  • In a study of women facing a stressful lab task (Ditzen et al. 2007), a brief neck-and-shoulder massage from their partner beforehand lowered cortisol and heart-rate responses compared with verbal support or none. The touch came from the partner, so we read it as evidence that affectionate touch buffers stress, not that a spa visit mends a relationship.
  • Couples assigned novel, exciting shared activities reported higher relationship satisfaction than those doing merely pleasant ones (Aron et al. 2000). The activities were not massage, but an hour you have never shared before is novel by definition.
  • A meta-analysis of 37 randomised studies (Moyer et al. 2004) found a single massage reliably lowers anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate in the moment. Two people, the same effect.

You will read elsewhere that a couples massage floods you both with "the love hormone". The evidence for that is thin, so we would rather promise an unhurried hour and let the two of you take it from there.

Is It Right for You?

Who books it

A good fit if you…

  • Anniversaries, honeymoons, babymoons, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and birthdays
  • Vacationing couples, after the drive in or on the rained-out beach day
  • Friends' trips and bachelorette weekends
  • Mothers and daughters, sisters, and parents with an adult child
  • Military families, before a deployment or after a homecoming
  • No occasion at all

Tell us when booking if…

  • One of you is pregnant: our Pre & Post Natal Treatment for you, any treatment for your partner
  • One of you has an injury, recent surgery or a medical condition; each guest's intake is separate
  • One guest is under 18: a parent stays in the room and signs consent, so please call us first
  • You would prefer a therapist of a particular gender
  • This is a gift: invite rather than surprise

Each guest completes their own intake, and each therapist adapts to their own guest. The caution lists on our individual treatment pages apply here too.

Practical Notes

Before and after your session

Before you come

  • Book ahead: two therapists must be free at once, and weekends, holidays and air-show weekends go first. A week or two is wise; a few days is usually fine off-peak
  • Tell us each treatment and length, add "couples" to the notes, and mention pregnancy or injuries
  • Arrive together, about ten minutes early
  • Decide beforehand whether you want to talk or drift; agreeing avoids the awkward middle

Afterwards

  • Water, an easy evening, and dinner booked for a little later than you think
  • Mild tenderness the next day is normal after deep tissue
  • You can pay separately or together; just tell us at checkout
  • Gratuity goes to each therapist and is entirely at your discretion

Gift cards are available in the studio or by phone. For two, a card for "two 60-minute treatments" is cleaner than a dollar amount, and lets the recipients choose the day.

Add-Ons

  • Hot Stone$25Per person
  • Aromatherapy$10Per person
  • Body Scrub$70Per person
  • CBD Oil$25Per person

Questions Guests Ask

Good to know

What exactly is a couples massage?

Two guests, two therapists, one room, with the tables side by side and both sessions starting and finishing together. Each of you is massaged by your own therapist.

Do we have to get the same massage?

No. Each guest chooses their own treatment, pressure and focus areas. Say which when booking so the right therapists are scheduled.

Which treatments can be booked for two?

Thai Combination, Swedish, Deep Tissue & Sport, Thai Yoga Stretching, Pre & Post Natal, Lymphatic Drainage and Express.

How do we book?

Call us and we will arrange it, or book both treatments online and add "couples" to the notes so we prepare the room for two.

Do we undress in front of each other?

Only if you want to. The therapists step out, you undress to your comfort level, together or in turns, and settle under the sheets. Only the area being worked is ever uncovered.

Can we talk during the massage?

Yes, quietly, or not at all. Many people drift off. It helps to agree beforehand.

Can we hold hands?

At the start and at the end, yes. During the massage your therapists need the room to move around you.

Do we have to be a couple? Are same-sex couples welcome?

Everyone is welcome: partners of any kind, friends, siblings, parents and grown children.

Can one of us just sit in?

Each guest has a table; the room is set up for two treatments. The exception is a parent accompanying a minor. Call us and we will work something out.

What if one of us is pregnant?

Book the Pre & Post Natal Treatment for her and any treatment for her partner. Tell us how many weeks, and check with your provider if the pregnancy has complications.

Can a parent and child book together?

Yes, with a parent in the room and written consent for anyone under 18. Please call first so we can plan the right treatment for a younger guest.

How far ahead should we book?

Two therapists must be free at the same time. A week or two ahead for weekends and holidays; longer for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and air-show weekends.

Can we pay and tip separately?

Yes. Tell us at checkout, and tip each therapist as you wish.

How long should we book?

Sixty minutes for a first time, ninety for a proper treat, a hundred and twenty for a big occasion. An Express at thirty minutes is a fine way to try it.

Is it a romantic or sensual service?

No. It is licensed, professionally draped massage therapy, two of them at once. Florida license MM 47569.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, in the studio or by phone, in any amount, or for a specific pair of treatments.

“Absolutely amazing. Consummate professionals and experts at their craft. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary and they gave us the best experience ever.”
